Mosvold Education Centre, Balapitiya

Mosvold Educational Center (MEC) in Balapitiya is also managed by Good Shepherd Sisters. MEC Vocational Training Institute aims at securing and improving living standards of disadvantaged young girls through skills development and career guidance programmes, in partnership with Mosvold Foundation Norway, Solandets Elektro Engros (SEE) Norway, MM F and Lebara Foundation.

MEC started 4th batch of the programme for the year 2018 – 2019 on March 2018, with 30 students and successfully moved forward. The aim of the programme is to empower these young girls to be strong and independent leaders within their communities. In order to help this initiative, one year residential courses are provided in computers, tailoring, cookery and bakery. The programme is defined as a holistic nature where all the students will get personal / behavior development training. These training programmes are designed and implemented in compliance to the guidelines of Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission of Sri Lanka (TVEC). Hence, it is a programme certified and recognized by the government of Sri Lanka. Project intends to increase the students up to 40 as the MEC has more space after construction of 3rd floor.

Lebara Foundation has been one key partner with Mosvold Martinus Foundation to build up Mosvold Education center at Balapitita, Sri Lanka.  We are very thankful to Mr. Rasiah Ranjith Leon and his team for the financial support given to this program for many years.
