OneCo Education Centre, Vaigarai, Vauniya

OneCo Education Centre, Vaigarai is a recognized vocational training center, registered with the Tertiary Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka. It offers courses registered by TVEC for the empowerment of war affected young women of the Northern Province. The skills development programme has been successfully implemented in 2018 under the supervision of MMF. This one-year residential vocational training programme is designed to look similar to the programme implemented by Seth Sevana, Balapitiya, a holistic programme model. The National Vocational Qualifications level (NVQ) certified skills programme consists of beauty culture, tailoring, computer, hair-dressing and bakery along with other informal skills such as life education, leadership development, spiritual development, agriculture, general cookery, arts & crafts and counselling programs. In 2018, MMF signed a 3-year agreement with the Good Shepherd Convent to support the programme and provide skills training for 25 – 30 girls on annual basis. In 2019, OneCo Education Centre is planning to accommodate more students for both, residential and part time courses.
